A Brisbane based clinical psychology practice dedicated to improving your wellbeing.
At Moore Clinical Psychology, I practice therapies with a relational and psychodynamic approach. My priority is always to ensure a safe and secure environment for you to share your emotions and experiences without fear, shame or judgement.
I primarily treat mental health presentations including anxiety, depression, adjustment disorders, grief and loss, complex trauma, and adult ADHD, in addition to anyone experiencing parenting stress, relationship difficulties, emotional dysregulation, and low self-worth.
Choosing to improve your psychological wellbeing is an empowering and fulfilling experience.

Psychodynamic Therapy
Psychodynamic therapy is an in-depth form of talk therapy based on the principles of psychoanalysis. It places value on early developmental experiences and unconscious processes. A psychodynamic approach will help to release unresolved conflicts, reduce emotional suffering and create long-lasting psychological growth.
-
Hypnotherapy
Clinical hypnotherapy is a therapeutic approach that integrates techniques from hypnosis and psychotherapy. It involves the use of hypnosis to help individuals achieve a natural state of deep relaxation and focused attention and access their unconscious mind where learned behaviour patterns and emotional conflicts are stored.

Parenting Support
Becoming a parent may feel like you’ve been thrown into the deep end, treading water, whilst at the same time trying to feed and care for another. It is a uniquely stressful time in your adult development which requires additional emotional support and guidance. Therapy at this special and sensitive time can be like a torch shining into the dark night.

Clinical Supervision
Clinical Supervision consists of a unique professional relationship between two practicing psychologists, one as supervisor, the other as supervisee. In addition to being considered ‘best practice’, regular clinical supervision is a requirement of registration for all Australian psychologists and carries responsibilities for both parties.
Gillian is an experienced senior clinician dedicated to excellence in psychological practice.
Meet Gillian Moore
I am a fully registered Clinical Psychologist. My formal qualifications include a Bachelors Degree in Psychological Science from the University of Queensland, a Masters Degree in Clinical Psychology from the Queensland University of Technology, and a Diploma of Clinical Hypnotherapy from the Australian Hypnotherapy College. I am also a Board Approved Supervisor for early and mid-career psychologists and enjoy supporting the wonderful work of others in this field. I have over 15 years’ experience as a psychologist, working with adults from all walks of life to help improve their psychological wellbeing and depth development.
My theoretical training is psychodynamic and attachment based which informs my understanding of humans as complex, emotional beings, who engage in patterned behaviour within dynamic systems in a bid to survive (meet attachment needs of safety and belonging) and thrive (connect, communicate and create).
I am committed to professional growth in my pursuit of providing evidence informed practices in Psychodynamic Psychotherapy, Parts work (Internal Family Systems), Ego State Therapy, Emotion Focused Therapy (for individuals and couples), Schema Therapy, EMDR and Clinical Hypnotherapy. I also utilise other counselling and clinical therapies such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Interpersonal Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Compassion Focused Therapy and Solution Focused Therapy.
Outside of work and family commitments (I’m married with children) I enjoy reading and spending time outdoors with friends.

My ancestral heritage is Celtic (England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales) and I was born in Meanjin/Brisbane. I have a deep love for this beautiful Country and it’s people.
In Celtic culture they believe the thistle symbolizes bravery, strength, determination, and loyalty. This symbolism spoke to me and so I’m carrying it forward to you.
There is much to learn from history that is both sacred and scarring. I believe it is imperative that we first look back and reflect, before we can move forward and heal. It is the same for each of us as individuals.
Whilst history plays a meaningful role in our identity, we must utilise our own strength, determination, and bravery to write our own story. We must choose loyalty to ourselves before we can plot a course for success.
Therapy requires all that the Scottish Thistle represents; bravery, determination, and strength. And I will be loyal to you while you plot your course.

Yes.
Trauma can occur whenever there is a lack of relational safety, as a result of;
- attachment needs being unmet (for validation, acceptance, understanding),
- emotional experiences being un-processed (leaving frightening, alien or unacceptable feelings to induce shame)
- or feeling emotionally or physically threatened (creating helplessness or horror)
Trauma experiences can significantly impact the body and mind in various forms (defences). A trauma response (or defence) is a coping mechanism, to be regarded with care and compassion.
As a trauma-informed relational psychologist I prioritise a sense of safety in therapy (through somatic exercises, attachment resourcing and a therapeutic relationship forged with authentic care).
There is no need to explicitly discuss your trauma experiences with anyone, unless it is your desire to, and you feel safe to do so. Healing from trauma begins in an environment of relational safety with someone who engages in best practices for trauma-informed care.
